  • New DIY Paint at Spruce Collective!

It's official, our newest arrival, Debi's Design Diary DIY Paint by Heirloom Traditions is now in stock at Spruce! Elisa recently travelled all the way to Kentucky (that's right y'aaal!) to meet with Debi and to work hands on with the paint and we're confident that you'll love working with it as much as we do! As you can see, she was pretty darn excited to pick up our delivery yesterday :)

There were a number of factors in our decision but here are the basics as well as a mini Q&A:

  • Non-toxic
  • 100% Green
  • Made in the USA
  • No sanding or priming required
  • Made from chalk, clay and minerals
  • Over 25 colours
  • 3 sizes of paint available - 4oz $15, 8oz $28, 16oz $44
  • 3 sizes of wax available in 3 colours - Clear, Dark and White - 2oz $14, 4oz $26, 8oz $44
  • 2 sizes of liquid patina available in 2 colours - Clear and Dark - 8oz $26, 16oz $46

  • Q: Why use DIY paint?

A: DIY paint is specifically designed for furniture with NO NEED FOR SANDING OR PRIMING! Seriously :) This paint adheres to virtually any surface without sanding or priming before use, including laminate, metal, plastic, wood and even fabric.

Q: What's the difference between DIY paint and other brands?

A: DIY paint is a non-toxic and all-natural paint. It has properties of chalk paint and clay, which gives it the unique ability to create texture. It is made in the USA from a third generation family business. Unlike many chalk-type brands, DIY paint is made from scratch like a cake and the pigment is crushed into the formula. When paint is made this way, the result is a pigment that is 70% deeper compared to when pigment is added to a pre-made base. DIY paint is less expensive than many other comparable brands as the paint is shipped directly from the factory to the retailers. These cost savings are then passed onto our customers.

But don't just take our word for it, come try our DIY Paint out for yourself! And if you're looking for inspiration, don't miss out on Debi's informative (and hilarious!) videos on her YouTube channel. You can scan each can of paint in our store too and will be taken to a fun video to watch while you shop. Happy painting + stay tuned for class schedules! ~the Spruce Girls
